Sometimes a person faces a difficult decision. Morality is on one scale, money is on the other. A theoretically easy equation for an honest man. But being poor as a church mouse and breaking your allegiance to help your loved ones is a dilemma. If I sell my morality, can it bring family happiness?

"Drink your life, drink it to the fullest..." sings Ješek, a carefree squire, surrounded by friends and pretty girls in a village tavern. While the young squire enjoys life, his aging mother's forehead is covered with wrinkles. The fortress is falling into disrepair, but instead of finally getting down to honest work, her son dreams of gold and riches, which, according to legend, are hidden in the nearby White Rock. Not even the sincere love of the good Johana can keep him at home, and one day Ješek sets off on a journey in search of the golden illusion...

Known for her strength, wit and radiant presence, the Anmatyerr Elder found global fame in the late ’80s with large-scale paintings deeply rooted in her connection to Country, culture and community. With collectors including actor Steve Martin, her work fuelled worldwide interest in Indigenous Australian art. Director Danielle MacLean (We Are Still Here, SFF 2022) follows the preparations for the National Gallery of Australia’s major 2023 Kngwarray retrospective, while rare archival materials let the artist, who passed away in 1996, speak in her own words.

At the age of thirteen, Monette is already forced to realize that money plays an important role in life. As a result of the economic crisis, her father Frank becomes unemployed from one day to the next. This has unexpected consequences for the whole family. They have to say goodbye to their detached family home and move into a much smaller apartment. In contrast to her sister, who finds the new circumstances very difficult, Monette is a modest girl. What really bothers her, however, is that there are suddenly a lot of arguments in the family, almost always about money, and mutual recriminations. In the end, she comes up with the abstruse idea of auctioning off her virginity to the highest bidder on the internet.

The law has finally lifted the barrier that prevented her from entering this profession. She hasn't told her family or her fiancé Jürgen about her application because she rightly fears a headwind.
